BUTT connection problem

My first post here and thx to JohnnyC1951 for his help in getting me up and running with LT

So . . . I have a problem with my BUTT.

SETUP
DigitalOCean VPS - 60gb SSD - 2Gb Ram - 2 processors - Ubuntu 14 - LT 3 Alpha 4
UFW firewall enabled Ports 8000 through 8005
Silan fix done (https://github.com/LibreTime/libretime/issues/197)
Icecast
BUTT 0.1.16

Connecting with BUTT for live shows is intermittant. The orange indicator lights for both Master and Show source will often remain lit up orange (see screenshot) even when BUTT has failed to connect and remains unconnected - which it does most of the time ie fail.

Never had this issue before. It’s as if the port hasn’t cleared, still something active going on with it, and so when I try to connect/reconnect the connection cannot get through.

Any ideas, suggestions, pointers etc much appreciated.

Also, kudos to the team developing Libretime. Great work. Many thx.

Are you sure about ports and accounts?

Please double check

Not quite sure what you mean re accounts. Ive been able to connect intermittently with BUTT via the Master and Show accts, but not consistently as the Port seems to get stuck in an open position and wont allow a connection. That last bit is of course a guess.

Thx for your pointers.

Also, I just tried to connect using port 8005. I was succesfull. Stayed connected for 4 minutes then ended the connection. When I came to reconnect yet again I was unable to. So once a port has been accessed it seems to stay stuck in a position where future connections are not possible and/or unreliable.

So, for some reason I had the Switch Transition Fade (s) set to 3.000. I now have it as follows:

. . . and this improved the reliability of live connections tremendously although not all the time. The port still sticks and does this far more on Show Source than Master Source.

Weird. There is probably something happening with airtime-liquidsoap that is leaving the connection open, can you check /var/log/airtime-liquidsoap.log (not 100% sure that is the log name but it is similar) and see if it shows any odd messages that might give us hints as to what is happening.

So I have done a fresh install of LT 3 Alpha 4 and the issue is improved - so far 95% effective connections which is more than acceptable and workable.

I have left show Port at 8002 and it is working fine.

Master using Port 8001 was proving to be inconsistent so Ive changed the Port to 8004 and its now working smoothly.

i binned the previous install so no logs Im afraid but all is now working sweet.

Thx for your
reply.

I know that Butt had issues with Airtime previously, have you tried using version .13 of Butt?

It resolved itself when I did a new install of LT.

I’ve also tested using rocket broadcaster (https://www.rocketbroadcaster.com/#features) which worked every time. Just a pity that RB does not include an auto-record facility like BUTT.

Try the new version of Butt as it states the issue with Airtime is now fixed
