I would like to request a feature enhancement in the Smart Block settings. Specifically, could you consider adding an option under Search Criteria called “Scheduled: yes/no”? This would allow users to decide whether to include previously scheduled tracks in Smart Block selection or not.
Currently, scheduled tracks are not marked as “played,” which can lead the Smart Block to repeatedly select and schedule these tracks, creating unintentional, closely spaced repetitions. Adding this option would help prevent these unintended recurrences, ensuring a more controlled and varied schedule when tracks are selected based on their last playtime.
Thank you very much for considering this request. I appreciate your support and look forward to any updates on this possible improvement.
You can use the logic in smart blocks to only pick items that haven’t been aired within a set time frame (in our case 4 hours). Of course this wont work for things that are scheduled but not played.
Unfortunately, this approach won’t work for me. The new playlist is uploaded an hour before going on air, during which time the current playlist is being played. This current playlist contains smart blocks with tracks that are scheduled but not yet played. As a result, the new playlist will treat these tracks as the most suitable and will schedule them again. Consequently, for 2:00 hours in a row, the same tracks from this smart block will be played repeatedly.
I am very disappointed with such limited capabilities of the Smart Block. I have in the past extensive experience working at a local FM radio station, so I have a good understanding of how a music scheduling automation system should operate. The entire principle is based on separating tracks from the same category within a playlist and providing the ability to control this separation. No one wants to play an entire block of identical songs in a row, as currently allowed by this Smart Block functionality.
If I try to use a dynamic Smart Block that plays one track at a time, the problem I described above arises. So far, I have found no way to manage this.
