Environment
- LibreTime Version: 4.3
- Deployment: Kubernetes (DigitalOcean)
- Database: PostgreSQL (DigitalOcean Managed)
- Running: Production radio station for years without issues
Problem
After years of smooth operation, LibreTime now shows the default message fallback (offline fallback) when the scheduled content ends, instead of continuing playback automatically as it used to.
What I’m Observing
Playout Logs (when schedule ends at 23:00):
2026-02-22 23:00:00,032 | INFO | libretime_playout.player.queue:main:36 - waiting indefinitely for schedule
Liquidsoap Logs (same time):
2026/02/22 23:00:00 [cue_cut_9616:3] Cueing out...
2026/02/22 23:00:00 [dummy:3] Source failed (no more tracks) stopping output...
2026/02/22 23:00:00 [switch:blank+schedule:3] Switch to map_metadata:offline with forgetful transition.
Normal Behavior During Scheduled Content:
The system works perfectly when shows are scheduled. It plays content, transitions properly, and logs show normal operations.
The Question
This never happened before. For years, the system continued playing content automatically even when nothing was specifically scheduled, on the next day
What Changed?
- Did LibreTime 4.x change the default fallback behavior?
- Was there a 24/7 fallback show mechanism in older versions that needs to be manually configured in 4.x?
- Is there a configuration setting I’m missing?
What I’ve Tried
- Confirmed pods are healthy (9/9 containers running)
- No errors in logs during normal operation
- Content plays fine when scheduled
- Just stops when schedule ends instead of continuing automatically
Current Workaround
I can manually schedule shows 24/7, but this wasn’t necessary before.
Questions
- Is this expected behavior in LibreTime 4.3?
- How do I configure automatic fallback/filler content for when no shows are scheduled?
- Was there a database migration or configuration change that might have removed a default fallback show?
Any guidance would be appreciated! This is affecting our live radio station.
